Fit your hiring process to the role

A CV and a phone screen do not suit every role. You want to hear a closer pitch, a nurse has no time for a call after a shift, and a good warehouse lead rarely writes a strong cover letter. With StormInterview every candidate answers the same questions on video, when it suits them. Here is how to set it up per role.

Appointment setters and closers

The situation

You need people who persuade on the phone, often remote and across countries. A CV says little about how someone opens a call or handles an objection.

How to use it

  • Ask candidates to record the first thirty seconds of a cold call. You hear the opening itself before you schedule a single conversation.
  • Candidates in other time zones record when it suits them; you do not have to call in the evening.
  • Hiring for an English-speaking market? Ask for answers in English. The answer is transcribed in the language the candidate spoke.
  • Sort the shortlist by suggested score and listen yourself to the recordings you want to compare.

Example questions

  1. Record the first 30 seconds of a cold call for a product you know.
  2. A prospect says: "Just send me an email." What do you say?
  3. Tell us about a deal you almost lost and how you closed it anyway.

Note

The AI assesses the content of the answer, not voice or tone. How someone sounds is yours to judge in the recording.

Healthcare professionals

The situation

Nurses, care assistants and home care staff work shifts. A daytime interview or a long cover letter is a barrier for them.

How to use it

  • Replace the cover letter and the first phone call with a link and three or four short questions. Candidates record on their phone, even after a night shift.
  • Give think time before each answer and allow retakes, so nerves do not decide.
  • Start with an unscored practice question so people can get used to the camera first.
  • Reminders before the deadline are sent for you.

Example questions

  1. Why did you choose care, and why this department?
  2. Tell us about a time you had to reassure a patient or their family.
  3. How do you handle a busy shift where everything happens at once?

Note

You check registrations and diplomas yourself in the next round; StormInterview does not.

Customer service and contact centres

The situation

Many applicants per vacancy, and you want to know how someone explains a problem before you make time for a call.

How to use it

  • Describe a familiar customer situation and ask the candidate to answer as if the customer were on the line.
  • Everyone gets the same questions, so you compare answers side by side instead of impressions from separate calls.
  • Share a recording with the team lead through a link that expires and that you can revoke.

Example questions

  1. A customer calls, angry that their order is late. What is your first sentence?
  2. Tell us about a time you helped someone solve a problem.
  3. How do you stay calm and friendly when a customer is upset?

Note

The AI does not score accent or fluency in a second language; that is written into the scoring rules.

Logistics and warehouse

The situation

Team leads and planners with plenty of floor experience and a thin CV. A first cut on CVs tends to pass them by.

How to use it

  • Ask about real situations on the floor: a sick call at the start of a shift, a truck that is late.
  • Candidates answer in their own language; the transcript stays in that language. If you do not speak it, use a human translator.
  • Keep good candidates who do not fit right now in the talent pool.

Example questions

  1. Two colleagues call in sick at the start of the shift. What do you do first?
  2. How do you make sure a new team member works safely in their first week?
  3. Tell us about a time you had to change a schedule at the last minute.

Hospitality and retail

The situation

Peak seasons, candidates who work during the day themselves, and a CV that says little about hospitality.

How to use it

  • One link in the job ad or on your careers page; candidates record when it suits them.
  • Short questions about guests and customers, with think time.
  • Advance, keep in the talent pool or decline, and the candidate hears back.

Example questions

  1. A guest complains about the food. What do you do?
  2. What does great service mean to you?
  3. Tell us about a busy evening and what you did to keep it running smoothly.

Recruitment and staffing agencies

The situation

You hire for all of these roles at once, for different clients.

How to use it

  • Create one interview per type of role and use it for every applicant. Start from a template in the industry library.
  • Share recordings with your client's hiring manager through a link that expires and that you can revoke.
  • Connect your ATS; what each connector supports is listed in our integration overview.

What it never does

  • There is no analysis of emotion, face, voice, body language or personality. The AI compares the content of the answer with the criteria you set.
  • A person makes every decision and can accept, adjust or override the suggested score. Nobody is rejected automatically.
  • Hosted in the EU.
